Kindering’s families and staff will celebrate the first year of an important cutting edge new program Saturday for the Crossroads-based organization that helps infants and children with special needs.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the Crossroads Community Park next to Kindering.  Food and beverages will be served at the gathering at the picnic shelter, and families will enjoy fun with bubbles, arts & crafts,  dress up cap & gown family photos and a short ceremony of program graduates.

The Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is an intensive school readiness program for 2- to 4-year olds and their parents. PCHP works to serve families who experience one or multiple educational and/or economic barriers in accessing high quality early learning services to prepare their children for early school success.

Nationally, 85 percent of families participating in the program have a household income below $25,000 and more than 90% are people of color. Trained Home Visitors model to parents in a non-directive way, demonstrating important parenting skills, positive verbal interaction, and play in order to enhance child development.
