Psychiatrist, old home enthusiast and author Brian Coleman will give a presentation at the Bellevue Arts Museum Friday on the influence of artist Mariano Fortuny’s work in home decorative arts.

Coleman is an editor-at-large for the magazine Arts & Crafts Homes and the Revival, and is the author of 16 books on decorative aesthetics, including 2012’s “Fortuny Interiors.”

Fortuny was an early 20th century artist known for his work in textiles, fashion and theatrical set design. “A World of Paper, A World of Fashion,” the Countess Isabelle de Borchgrave’s paper recreation of his work, remains on display in the Bellevue Arts Museum through Feb. 16. The Bellevue Reporter’s feature on the exhibit can be read here.

The presentation takes place during the Museum’s “Free Friday.” BAM offers free admission the first Friday of every month.

A book signing with Coleman will be held at 6:30 p.m. The presentation will last from 7 to 8 p.m. Interested patrons can RSVP on the arts museum’s website.
