The May 13 article on neighborhood identification was quite amusing to me.
Having lived in Newport Hills since 1964, I am certain that we understand the “neighborhood identity.” However, since our grocery story just closed and also the Newport Hills drug store also closed its doors, I feel that perhaps monies directed toward upgrading and seeking new businesses would better serve our citizens.
It is also quite interesting to drive on 119th Street and try to dodge all the potholes that have developed in the asphalt. Perhaps some funds could be used for that as well. I feel this project would fund some jobs.
Beautification is welcomed by everyone – but buying a new pair of shoe laces for a pair of shoes with holes in the soles doesn’t make much sense.
