Local sculptor Dudley Carter carved “Forest Deity” in Bellevue Square in the late 1940s. For the next two decades, the sculpture was the unofficial symbol of Bellevue. It appeared on promotional materials, souvenirs, and even dinner tables. The ice sculpture seen here was the centerpiece on a buffet table at Bellevue’s Crabapple Restaurant, Aug. 30, 1957.
Heritage Corner is a feature in the Bellevue Reporter. Material is provided by the Eastside Heritage Center. For more information call 425-450-1049.
