King County’s legislative branch will take an unpaid furlough day Friday, March 13. The central offices of the King County Council will be closed, along with the offices of the County Auditor, Ombudsman, Board of Appeals, Hearing Examiner, Tax Advisor, and King County TV.
The Clerk of the Council will have staff on duty in Room W-1039 to receive required document filings.
County employees are taking the unpaid furlough as a means to help close the gap in the 2009 King County Budget.
While the council is closed, other county services will still be available. The council adopted a 10-day furlough schedule for the legislative branch that is different on two days from the rest of the county.
King County’s separately-elected officials, including the Sheriff, Prosecutor and the Superior and District Court, have determined their own furlough schedules.
