Q and A with Lynden football coach Curt Kramme | Prep football preview

Lynden comes to Interlake Stadium this week to take on the Saints and the Reporter talked with the head coach for the Lions, Curt Kramme.

Interlake, in the 2A state quarterfinal round for the second straight season, plays host to Lynden on Saturday at 1pm a week after knocking off Franklin Pierce behind five Jordan Todd touchdowns.

Curt Kramme is the head man for the Lions and sports a record of 178 wins against only 51 losses in this, his 20th season. He has captured three 2A state titles (2006, 2008, 2009) to go with one 1A championship (1991) and a pair of 3A title game appearances (2001, 2002).

His squad is currently 11-0 on the year and went wire-to-wire perched atop the 2A state Associated Press rankings.

BELLEVUE REPORTER: Coach, how is your defense going to try and stop Jordan Todd?

CURT KRAMME: We probably won’t, we’ll just try to slow him down as much as we can. Our goal is not to let him cross the last line.

BR: What are your impressions of the Saints from seeing game film?

CK: They’re playing 3A football, which is such a higher level than ours it’s hard to compare. We’re going to do what we do and if it’s good enough it is, and if not, they’ll be advancing.

BR: Tell me a little about your offense.

CK: We run the Spread Offense. We can throw, we can run, it depends on how the defense plays against us. It was nice last week because it was raining and we had a couple drops. We tried to run the ball every down and were able to.

BR: What is your team’s mindset now, one game from Tacoma and the semi-finals?

CK: Our approach is pretty much the same every week. We study the other team and do what we do. If it’s good enough, it is and if not, life goes on.
