The Bellevue City Council on Tuesday accepted five transportation grants totaling more than $1.65 million.

The money will go toward:

• Light-rail station planning: Federal stimulus grant for $75,000 will pay for planning of an East Link light-rail station at 130th Ave. NE.

• Commute reduction: A $472,500 grant from King County Metro to reduce the number of single-occupant vehicles, mainly through programs administered by the Bellevue Downtown Association.

• Multi-purpose trail: Federal grant for $354,000 and a state grant for $605,000 to build a 10-foot-wide trail connecting the north end of 124th Ave. SE, near SE 38th St., to the Mountains to Sound Grenway trail along I-90.

• Bicycle wayfinding: A $150,493 federal grant to create “wayfinding” signs that provide directions to cyclists along 15 corridors in Bellevue, Bothell, Issaquah, Kirkland and Redmond.
