Late night drivers headed eastbound on I-90 from southbound I-5 should plan for delays and a detour this week.
Crews will close the southbound I-5 exit ramp to eastbound I-90 each night starting Monday, Oct. 26 through Thursday, Oct. 29. Crews will close the exit ramp at 10 p.m. and reopen it by 4 a.m. the following morning.
Drivers will follow a signed detour guiding them to the S. Dearborn Street exit, to southbound Rainier Avenue S. and back to eastbound I-90.
During the crews will place forms and reinforcement steel for future signs bridges in the area.
Crews are laying the groundwork for a series of electronic speed-limit and lane status signs above I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue. The new signs, scheduled to be activated in spring 2011, are the latest smarter highway technology aimed at increasing safety and reducing collisions.
