Cranes in the air once again in Bellevue

It was only a few years ago that there were as many cranes in the air as skyscrapers in Downtown Bellevue. One after the other, they had to fold down their jibs and migrate away from the city until the economic climate became more inviting for their come back. On July 31, the first of these cranes was erected by the Halvorson Construction Group, one block east of the Bellevue Library on Northeast 12th Street.

The crane will be used for the construction of the Park Metro Apartment Homes, a six-story, 74-unit apartment building by the developer Evergreen Point Development 12th, LLC.

“We purchased the land back in 2007,” said Alex Morcos, partner at Evergreen Point Development 12th, “with the intention to build high end condominiums at the time”.

The process eventually stalled due to market conditions. In 2012, the developer updated the design to offer apartments instead, and construction started in April. A ground Breaking ceremony was staged to coincide with the crane erection on July 31.

The building is expected to be completed summer 2013. The Park Metro combines 74 units in a mix of one and two bedroom apartments with spacious surroundings and high end amenities and finishes.
