A concert featuring the world-renowned violist Paul Coletti will be held at Interlake High School Wednesday, April 14. Both the Interlake High School orchestra and members of the Academy of Music Northwest will play at the concert.

The highlight of the night will be a “lost” Bach Viola Concerto, a personal project of Coletti. Coletti, a former professor at the University of Washington and current professor at the Colburn School’s Conservatory of Music, set out to create a reconstruction of one of Bach’s viola concertos over the past 11 years. Many of Bach’s pieces have been lost to posterity, known only through fragmentary references to the pieces from other sources (sometimes Bach’s own music).

With the help of fellow music specialists from organizations including the Academy of Music Northwest, Coletti eventually was able to piece together the concerto. The concert will be the premiere performance of the reconstructed Bach piece.

The concert will also feature Justin Almazan, currently a freshman at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York and a violist formerly in both the Interlake High School orchestra and the Academy of Music Northwest.

The program will also feature pieces from composers Ernest Bloch, Edvard Grieg and Felix Mendelssohn. Interlake High School is located at 16245 NE 24th St.. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free.
