Bellevue man charged for kidnapping child at Crossroads Victim says he was threatened with knife in bathroom

A Bellevue man is facing charges for allegedly threatening a boy with a knife and exposing himself in a bathroom at the Crossroads Bellevue Mall.

County prosecutors on Wednesday charged David Harry Alaumbaugh, 19, with first-degree kidnapping with sexual motivation with a deadly weapon.

Late Saturday afternoon a 12-year-old boy told mall security that a man had confronted him in the men’s room and forced him into the handicapped stall. The boy said the man threatened him with a knife and exposed himself.

The assault was interrupted when someone else came into the bathroom and went into the next stall. The boy said loudly, “I didn’t do anything to you,” and the man fled, according to police.

The boy contacted mall security immediately.

A Bellevue Police officer got a detailed description of the suspect and relayed that information to other officers in the area.

A patrol officer then spotted the suspect walking along 156th Avenue Northeast within an hour of the initial call about the assault. The man was arrested without incident.
