Sammamish senior Taylor Berg netted a pair of goals and Stuart Ellsworth recorded his second shutout in a row as the Totems fought past Mount Si in a 3A KingCo soccer match on Tuesday night in Snoqualmie.
Berg opened the scoring with a strike in the 32nd minute and found the back of the net again at the 78 minute mark to give his team a two goal lead the Wildcats would not cut into.
Sammamish goes to 9-0-1 with the win and has won nine consecutive since a season opening draw against Bothell. The Totems will be back in action on Friday against Liberty with a start time of 7:30 p.m. at Sammamish High School.
Wolverines outlast Liberty 3-2 on soccer pitch
Bellevue received goals from three different players and held off the Patriots in the second half to hang on for a 3-2 boys soccer win on Tuesday night at Bellevue High school.
Sophomore Ryan Harber got things going early on an unassisted goal in the 11th minute and Reid Beloff added another just four minutes later on an assist from Cole Mora to give his team a 2-0 lead before the Patriots even had the opportunity to gather themselves.
A penalty kick from Danny Dapper brought Liberty to within a goal at the break, but Mitch Johnson found the equalizer on a penalty kick of his own two minutes into the second half, which would prove to be the decisive strike of the contest.
With the win, the Wolverines pull their record even for the season at 5-5-1 and have taken two consecutive after dropping their previous three contests. They will be face Juanita at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, again at Bellevue High School.
Juanita stays perfect with win over Wolverines
The Bellevue softball team met a familiar opponent on Tuesday afternoon in the Juanita Rebels and suffered a familiar fate, losing 8-0. Allison Rhodes threw a complete game shutout, giving up four hits and walking six while striking out 11 for the Rebels.
Bellevue pitcher Emily Fleischman also went to the distance, allowing eight runs (seven earned) and ten hits to the unbeaten and state-ranked squad from Juanita.
Katie Savard had the only multi-hit day for Bellevue, going 2-4 with a pair of singles.
Bellevue will be back on the diamond at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Liberty High School. A win will ensure the Wolverines stay alone in second place while a loss would open the possibility of a three-way tie for second with Liberty and Interlake.
