Safeco volunteers helped Youth Eastside Services (YES) assemble summer camp kits June 21 for needy youth participating in the YES Explorers Therapeutic Summer Camp Program.
The camp enables kids, who receive school-based counseling, to continue receiving treatment in summer and have a fun camp experience.
“These kids are low income, and many would not have any summer activities if not for this camp,” explained Debbi Halela, director of youth and family counseling services at YES.
The kits include such items as a tote bag, beach towel, sunscreen and journal. Items were donated by business and individuals in the community.
The Safeco volunteers are working as part of “Serve with Liberty.”
