Regarding the letter, “Cartoon needed more information” (April 4, 2014), it may be noted that cartoon is a pictorial comment on some political or social issue of public concern which by and large echoes public reaction. A cartoonist generally draws cartoon based on the information/data which he deems fit to rely on for crisp comment. It enjoins upon the readers to trace the source of information and share it with readers or just to leave it alone if the source of information does not endorse the comments of the cartoonist.
Unlike news reporter, cartoonists should not be called upon to justify or explain source of information. Readers, however, are at liberty to beg to differ. Until then better to leave it alone or just enjoy it.
