Bellevue semi-pro team raising money for cancer patients | Community sports news

The Northwest Honkers are encouraging donations for their "Honkin' for a CURE" fundraiser, which benefits Northwest Hope and Healing.

The Northwest Honkers Baseball Club, a semi-pro team based in Bellevue, is partnering with Northwest Hope and Healing to raise money for cancer patients with a host of events.

The team will be accepting donations at every game and giving away “Honkin’ for the CURE” bracelets for every $5 donated to Northwest Hope and Healing. There will also be t-shirts with the same moniker for $30, with half of all those purchases going to the foundation.

The final fundraising event will be a donation night at the team’s 7 p.m. July 5 game at the University of Washington baseball field where all proceeds from ticket sales, which are $5, will go to the foundation and come with a bracelet.

A representative from Northwest Hope and Healing will accept the donations at the July 21 game at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle.

Northwest Hope and Healing is a non-profit that provides financial assistance to cancer patients to help cover everyday expenses and even rent for women who are receiving breast and genealogical cancer treatment at Swedish Medical Center. Part of the money raised goes to the purchase of the organizations’ Signature Healing Baskets, which are given to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
