With a seven-point win over Sequim High School, the Interlake Saints boys cross country team won the Westside District Class race last Saturday and qualified for the 2A state cross country meet this weekend in Pasco.

It was the first time an Interlake team had qualified for state during coach Brad Barquist’s seven-year tenure at the school. It was also the first time the Saints had even won a meet during that same time period.

Ashish Suntosh finished in fifth place to pace the Saints, who raced predominately this year against KingCo 3A teams.

Max Crowell finished 10th, Michael Huseby 14th, and Max Van Ginneken finished 15th to help the Saints take the district title.

Feynman Liang finished in 22nd, John Northey finished 27th and Patrick Northey finished 29th for Interlake.

Sophomore Brooke Neimann finished in 10th place for the Interlake girls, and freshman teammate Summer Hanson finished 15th to qualify for the state tournament as individuals.

The Interlake girls finished fourth, one spot out of qualifying as a team for the state race.
