The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation will host its second annual Journey to a Cure Fall Tea on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at the Bellevue Club.
Keynote speaker will be Dr. Gregory C. Gardner, professor of Rheumatology at the University of Washington in Seattle. Gardner will present stories of some of the world’s great artists and the struggles they have faced in creating beautiful art while dealing with the pain and damage caused by arthritis.
Inflammation, pain, joint damage, lack of available treatments and social stigmas shaped the way such artists as Rubens, Matisse and Renoir created, as arthritis forced many adaptations in their creative process.
The doors open at 1:30 p.m. and tea is served at 2 p.m.. This event is open to the public at no charge; however support for the work of the Arthritis Foundation is requested during the program; all donations are 100 percent tax deductible.
Seating is limited and reservations are required. To make a reservation or to receive more information contact Deborah Genge at 206-547-2707 or 800-746-1821 – dgenge@arthritis.org.
The Bellevue Club is located at 11200 Southeast Sixth St.
