The Bellevue Philharmonic announced Monday that Michael Miropolsky has accepted the position of music director with the orchestra for a three year term.
Miropolsky conducted the 2009-2010 season as interim music director, and both the orchestra committee and board recommended he continue as music director.
The 2010-11 season begins October 9-10, with Misha Keylin, violin, playing the Prokofiev Violin Concerto No.1 in D Major. The orchestra will perform other works by Hindemith, Berlioz and Mussorgsky.
The philharmonic and the Bellevue Chamber Chorus will perform the ever popular Messiah by Handel on Dec. 12 at Westminster Chapel in Bellevue.
Pianist Anastasia Solomatina will be the featured soloist on January 22-23 for Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 in C Minor. Also on the program are works by Chabrier, Sibelius and Rimsky-Korsakov.
March 19-20, the orchestra will be joined by soprano Christina Kowalski for a collection of opera arias followed by Symphony No.4 in F minor by Tchaikovsky.
The season concludes with a set of pops concerts featuring Adam Frey, Euphonium virtuoso on Mother’s Day weekend, May 7-8. Works by J. Strauss, Elgar, Rossini, Bernstein and others will also be performed.
Miropolsky will conduct all performances.
