Bellevue Rotary gives grant to YMCA

The Rotary Club of Bellevue has awarded a grant of $4,000 to Bellevue Family YMCA Child Development Center as part of the Community Grants program. The Rotary Club of Bellevue’s Community Grants program awards grants of up to $5,000 for capital improvements or projects primarily to not for profit organizations located in East King County.

In total, 19 organizations will be awarded grants of $1,500 to $5,000 in 2009 totaling $50,000.

The Rotary Club of Bellevue awarded funds to the YMCA’s Child Development Center to purchase a canopy to cover the outdoor play area and provide an outdoor play area for children, regardless of the weather. The Child Development Center, which has operated out of the Bradford Center in downtown Bellevue for 14 years, offers full day childcare for children aged 6 weeks through five years.

In thanking the Bellevue Rotary for the grant, Program Director Kelly Campbell said “Having a covered play area for the children will allow us to provide outdoor activities year-round, which is vitally important to building strong, active children.”
