Veterinarians at the Bellevue-based Seattle Humane Society on Sunday, July 25 completed their 500th free Pit Bull spay/neuter surgery this year.
The society and PetSmart Charities have joined forces to provide free spay and neuter surgeries to Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes in King County. The dogs receive free vaccinations, and microchips are available for $5.
Pit Bull mixes make up approximately 30 percent of lost, stray and abandoned animals in community shelters.
Those with an unaltered pit bull can call the Seattle Humane Society at 425-649-7560 to make an appointment to have their pet spayed or neutered.
