The city of Bellevue is advising those who must drive Monday morning to use extreme caution. Bellevue received another four to six inches overnight and with the hard freeze, some neighborhood roads may be heavy with snow and difficult to navigate. Drivers should follow priority arterials, watch for ice and compact snow, drive very cautiously and use traction devices, such as chains, cables and studded tires.
City crews worked all night, plowing, sanding and de-icing roads as fast as they could prior to the Monday morning commute.
“With more heavy snow last night and the freezing temperatures, roads are very slippery, and some may be difficult to drive through,” said Mike Jackman, Utilities Operations and Maintenance assistant director.
“If people must drive this morning, they should use go slow, use traction devices and be very careful,” Jackman said. “Crews are working as fast as they can to stabilize priority arterials so we can again get back to working on neighborhood streets. They’ll continue working round the clock as we see our way through this extreme winter weather. We really appreciate the patience of the community at a time when they need to get to work, shop and take care of everyday business.”
The additional heavy snow and freezing conditions was making the Monday morning commute difficult. Drivers should go slow and expect delays.
