Recently, there has been some reporting on possible quid pro quo dealings of our governor for Indian casinos and government employees. How long will it take voters to recognize what I believe is the disingenuous nature of this politician?
We apparently now are the only state without revenue sharing with Indian casinos. She oversaw the AG office while it lost millions of dollars to missed deadlines and oversights. She stayed in a discriminatory sorority without a stance while saying she favored affirmative action.
My concern is that this governor appears to have used our state’s surplus from the get-go to attract votes for her reelection rather than implementing an integrated strategy to improve our economy, educational system, transportation systems, operations and social work effectiveness.
I hope that my instincts are wrong, however, as our economy enters a recession, our surplus is gone; significant revenue sharing has been abandoned; extensive capital investment is needed; and our state’s operating systems appear to have grown with political appointees without improvement (e.g., social services).
While Gov. Chris Gregoire hands out her candy largesse and basks in her oratorical popularity, our future visits to the dentist may prove quite painful?
