The Wolverines will have another chance to defend the crown.
After trailing 3-0 at the half, coach Butch Goncharoff’s Wolverines scored three touchdowns on the ground to escape Kennewick’s Lampson Stadium with a 21-10 win over Kamiakin in the state semi-finals.
Bellevue trailed the previously unbeaten Braves at the break after turning the ball over on four occassions in the first 24 minutes, but rebounded with rushing scores from John Nguyen, Tyler Hasty and Joey Moore to move to next week’s 3A state title game against O’Dea.
The Fighting Irish, which were the last team to earn a state playoff win over Bellevue with a 27-17 win in the 2007 semi-finals, took down Camas in the other semi-final to earn the opportunity to win the fourth title in school history.
