A 7-year-old girl noticed smoke coming from her neighbor’s house at 5:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20. The girl reported the smoke to her father who called 9-1-1. Within six minutes, firefighters arrived at the home, in the 1400 block of 176th Ave. NE, to find the living room partially engulfed in flames.
An adult resident reported leaving the home with her four children to run errands at 3:15 p.m.
Firefighters were able to control the blaze within eight minutes of their arrival. The crew reported hearing smoke detectors while fighting the fire.
A total of six residents are displaced and staying with their family. The home is insured. Damage is estimated at $100,000. No injuries were reported.
