Works by Seattle-based sculptor, architect, designer and furniture-maker Ray McMakin are now on display in Bellevue Community College’s Gallery Space.

The free, public exhibit runs through March 18.

Gallery Space (room 271 of BCC’s D Building) is open from noon to 6 p.m. every day except Fridays and Sundays, when it is closed.

McMakin is drawing notice for the numerous homes he has designed across the U.S. Borrowing from many sources to best suit their site, climate, or owner’s taste and personality, his homes are considered as engaging to contemplate intellectually as they are intuitively functional.

Also a noted sculptor, McMakin has been the subject of exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle.

One of his sculptures is on permanent display in Seattle’s Olympic Sculpture Park.

The BCC exhibit of his work includes several pieces that blur the gap between sculpture and furniture.
