Sounders FC soccer player Freddy Montero is under investigation after a 23-year-old Bellevue woman alleged that he raped her twice, according to police reports.
The Bellevue Police Department released its incident report late Friday that identified Montero, 21, as the suspect in the case.
The incident summary in the report states that the “Victim [name redacted] reported she was raped twice by [suspect] Montero on 3/15 and 3/22.” The report included no additional details about the incidents.
All material in the incident has been forwarded to the King County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if charges should be filed.
Allegations against Montero, a Columbian native and the Sounders leading scorer, stalked the victim a week after the second alleged assault, according to a report released by the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sounders released a statement about Montero, who did not travel with the team to its game in Toronto last weekend, stating “We are aware of the situation and continue to gather information. We fully support Freddy and expect him to play next week. We have no further comment at this time.”
