Eastside transit service changes focus of meeting

The Metropolitan King County Council’s Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee will hold a special meeting April 12, to take public testimony on the proposed service changes for Metro Transit in East King County.

The meeting, from 6-8 p.m., will be at the Mercer Island Community Center,

8236 SE 24th St., Mercer Island.

Metro will launch its second RapidRide Route this fall. The “B” Line between Bellevue and Redmond will feature new buses designed for faster boarding and exiting, new stations with real-time bus arrival signs, faster fare collection, and a transit signal priority system.

With the addition of service associated with RapidRide, Metro will be changing and even discontinuing some related transit routes. The meeting will let transit users and the public comment on the proposed changes.

The recommended changes are described in detail on Metro Online, including route-by-route descriptions, downloadable maps, and an interactive map.
