With first rounds of primary votes rolling in, Jim Postma and Adam Smith appear headed for a rematch of the 2008 9th Congressional District race. Only a few thousand votes have been counted, and as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, Smith has garnered nearly 60 percent of the vote, while Postma has 22 percent of the vote.

Statewide, the race between Sammamish High School graduate Rob McKenna and his Democratic opponent, former 1st District representative Jay Inslee has begun as many predicted: tight. Inslee holds a 47-42 advantage, with more than 800,000 votes counted over all counties.

The top two candidates in each race will advance to the general election.
