The Metropolitan King County Council on May 21 gave its unanimous approval to an interlocal agreement transferring to the city of Bellevue county properties that were once part of the unincorporated communities of Eastgate, Tamara Hills and Horizon View.

“Today’s action regarding the annexation of Eastgate, Tamara Hills, Horizon Hills and Hilltop neighborhoods in Bellevue is a great accomplishment for both the neighbors and the county,” said Council Vice Chair Jane Hague. “These neighborhoods are the last unincorporated urban ‘island’ in District 6 and the citizens will benefit immensely by getting more services for less cost.”

The annexation of the communities is scheduled to occur on June 1, 2012.

The transfer agreement authorized by the adopted ordinance provides for King County to transfer ownership of specified roads-related property, drainage facilities, properties and property interests to the city of Bellevue. These facilities, properties and property interests were operated by King County prior to annexation by the city of Bellevue.

They agreement means Bellevue will assume full and complete responsibility for the operation, maintenance, repairs, and any subsequent improvements to the properties, property interests and facilities.
