Parent educator Jan Faull to speak at Bellevue CC on April 15

Do your children seem to think they should automatically have every new electronic game and gadget?

How can you teach children responsibility and accountability, instead of entitlement and instant gratification?

Noted author and parent educator Jan Faull in will share ways to accomplish that goal in a public lecture April 15 at Bellevue Community College.

Her presentation, “Resisting Raising Children Who Feel Entitled,” highlights a celebration of 70 years of cooperative preschool parent-education programming in Washington, and 43 years at BCC.

The event begins at 7 p.m. with a greeting via video from Washington Senator Patty Murray, who herself has benefited from community college parent education.

A dessert reception hosted by BCC’s parent education faculty will follow Faull’s presentation.

The event will be held in BCC’s Carlson Theatre (located in the south courtyard of BCC’s main campus, 3000 Landerholm Circle S.E., Bellevue, at the intersection of S.E. 28th St. and 148th Ave. S.E.).

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

Jan Faull, author of the book, Unplugging Power Struggles: Resolving Emotional Battles with Your Kids, and a long-running columnist for the Seattle Times, has been a parent educator for more than 25 years. Her messages offer practical advice to parents all over the United States.

Faull’s appearance at BCC is sponsored by the Advisory Committee of the college’s Parent Education program.

BCC’s Parent Education program offers classes for parents and children together in a fun, nurturing environment. Learning focuses on nutrition, health, safety, family relationships, development milestones, time management, child guidance, and the physical, emotional, social and environmental needs of children.

Classes are offered for parents of infants, pre-toddlers, toddlers and preschool-age.
