Come spring, my husband and I take long walks on Sundays in the Mercer Slough, and enjoy it immensely. We also see a lot of people with prams, small children, dogs, elderly couples, all of them enjoying watching nature and the boaters.
I find it a horrendous idea to have the East Link built right through this lovely park. We have lived in World-class cities for many years (Paris, Brussels, Warsaw, Dusseldorf). All have wonderful parks, and I am not aware that any of them destroyed a park in order to run a transportation system.
This is not the way to turn Bellevue into a “World-class city” as was proclaimed by some City Council members at the Hyatt Hotel last October during the election campaign.
