UPDATE: Police located and arrested the fourth suspect connected to a residential burglary in Newport Hills Thursday, according to a tweet sent out just before 4 p.m. from the department public information officer’s account. A subsequent tweet thanked “the awesome block watch in Newport Hills!”

Bellevue police apprehended three suspects in a Newport Hills residential burglary Thursday afternoon, and are searching for a fourth, department spokesperson Ofc. Carla Iafrate said.

A witness called 911 for a suspected residential burglary, after he saw three unknown persons in a neighboring backyard in Newport Hills Thursday. The person was able to obtain a photo of the suspects’ blue truck and its license plate number as they left the area, information he was able to share with police dispatch.

An officer responding to the burglary saw the truck on 119th Avenue Southeast and initiated an emergency stop. One of the four people — two female and two male — inside ran from the scene.

Police closed down 119th from Coal Creek Parkway to Southeast 56th Street as they searched for the suspect. After being told of the operation, Newport Hills Elementary School locked down until police cleared the scene shortly after 1 p.m.

A records check on the suspects’ truck returned as stolen in connection to a residential burglary in Tacoma. The truck was filled with stolen items, at least some of which the Newport Hills burglary victim was able to identify as being taken from their household.
