Three Bellevue teams battled in the first round of the KingCo 3A soccer playoffs, with only Sammamish High School coming out unscathed after a rally that left Bellevue stunned and eliminated.

Will Rattigan scored in the 32nd minute to give Bellevue a 1-0 lead that they would hold until the last seven minutes of the game.

That’s when Sammamish decided enough was enough.

Josh Guerrero scored in the 73rd minute, and Nate Wigley netted the game winner in the final minute of the game as the Totems (11-3-3) stunned Bellevue 2-1 to move on to the next round of the playoffs to face Skyline, who defeated Newport 1-0.

The only goal in that game was a David Brett goal that beat Knights’ goalie Adam Dootson in the 62nd minute.

Brian Schwartz, a junior goalie who played JV baseball for the Spartans last season, picked up the shutout for Skyline (10-4-3).

Newport finishes the year with a 10-5-2 record. Bellevue finished at 8-8-1.

Sammamish moved on to play Skyline Thursday. Results of that game were not available at Reporter press time.
