An original musical “Whatchamadoozie…” will premier premieres at Youth Theatre Northwest beginning today and continuing through May 8.

The musical, Whatchamadoozie with a Whaddayacallit (with a Thingamajigit on Top!), is created by Northwest artists Ellen Cooper (book) and Joseph Seserko (music).

It’s a Whatchamadoozie with a Whaddayacallit (with a Thingamajigit on Top!) is a new children’s musical set in the eclectic community of Tremble Town, a town rife with rumors and paralyzed by fear.

When a suspicious glow is spotted in the sky and wild music permeates the air, the mayor declares a state of emergency and orders all the children inside for the summer. It takes the intrepid curiosity of Lucy Margaret and her plucky pals to save the day by transforming fear into wonder and fiction into fact.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings with matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. All performances will be held at Youth Theatre Northwest, at 8805 SE 40th St., Mercer Island.

The musical is best appreciated by audiences five and up.

Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for youth/seniors for the April 23 opening night gala (which includes an intermission dessert). All other performances are $15 for adults and $13 for youth/seniors.
