Continued construction on the Interstate 90 and State Route 520 bridges across Lake Washington will slow traffic coming to and leaving Bellevue this weekend.
Eastbound I-90 and westbound SR-520 lanes will be slowed this weekend by construction crews working for Washington State Department of Transportation and Sound Transit. I-90 eastbound will be reduced to one lane between Rainier Avenue South and Bellevue Way Southeast and pushed to the express lanes. Flammable materials will be prohibited on eastbound I-90. This lane reduction will be in effect from 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14.
SR-520 westbound will be closed from 92nd Avenue Northeast to Montlake Boulevard from 6 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14.
Crews are continuing upgrading tunnel operations systems inside the eastbound Mount Baker and Mercer Island tunnels as part of a project to add constant HOV lanes. Crews on 520 are removing portions of the 24th Avenue East bridge and building a new westbound offramp to East lake Washington Boulevard.
