Drivers should plan ahead for delays on the State Route 520 floating bridge early Thursday morning.

Drivers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes at a time from 2:30 – 5 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 12 while Washington State Department of Transportation bridge crews open and close the drawspan for testing. This testing work takes place on the second Thursday of every month to make sure the drawspan operates properly.

Electronic message signs on highways leading to the span will advise drivers when the bridge is temporarily closed. Drivers who use the bridge should also be aware they may encounter nighttime road construction and lane closures between the east highrise and 84th Avenue Northeast.

Drivers can also choose alternate routes to get around Lake Washington including Interstates 90 and 405 and State Route 522. Eastbound drivers on I-90 should be aware that two lanes are closed overnight for construction on the East Channel bridge.
