Bellevue firefighters fought a Newcastle house fire and saved a cat early Sunday morning.
Around 6 a.m. on Sept. 4, fire crews responded to a fire in the 15200 block of SE 80th St. They determined that the fire had started on a deck attached to the home and had spread into the residence and its attic space.
Firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the fire while searching for occupants, according to fire department spokesperson Ryan Armstrong. No occupants were injured and the homeowner’s cat was rescued. Crews were able to salvage most of the home.
