U.S. starting to rot within | Letter

With over 80 years on this planet, I have traveled far and wide and been in countries where corruption and graft is an accepted way of life.

With over 80 years on this planet, I have traveled far and wide and been in countries where corruption and graft is an accepted way of life.

To be fair, we have had individuals in U.S. administrations that have been grossly corrupt, a prime example is the Teapot Dome scandal.

I never thought that I would see the day when one branch of the federal government, in this case, the Department of Justice, would be so brazenly corrupt. The FBI concluded that Hillary Clinton had broken the law, yet there were no grounds to charge her.

FBI Director James Comey said that if these same charges had been leveled against someone else, they would indeed have been charged. In other words, he admitted that the FBI did look the other way when it came to Mrs. Clinton.

We are now in good company, with countries that accept as the norm, that the law does not apply to the powerful. Countries have disappeared, when they started to rot from within, and these United States are heading that way.
