June 24
Officers contacted two people sitting in a car in the 500 block of Bellevue Way NE and smoking a controlled substance. Police found meth, heroin, ecstacy as well as more than 30 credit cards belonging to different people. The suspects were arrested for outstanding warrants.
June 25
A woman reported that her husband was intoxicated and acting irrationally, and that she had locked him in the house to prevent him from acting out toward their children. When officers arrived, the subject laid on the ground behind the family’s car to prevent them from leaving. After 30 minutes, he got up, walked off the property and collapsed in the road while making statements about not having the will to go on. Due to his intoxication and statements, he was transported to the hospital.
June 26
An officer stopped a driver for a traffic violation, and found cell phones, iPads, narcotics, prescription drugs and other items used to sell drugs inside the suspect’s vehicle when he was given permission to search it.
Four unknown men crashed a grey 2000 Yukon into a tree on Main Street at 152nd Avenue Southeast, the abandoned the vehicle. A witness noticed all four men were wearing white shirts that had “150” written on the back.
June 28
Two suspects stole 10-15 bottles of alcohol from a store in the 1600 block of 140th Ave. NE. They fled northbound on foot, but police were unable to locate them.
June 29
A man’s phone was stolen out of his hand in the 16000 block of NE 10th St. The victim’s father later called the phone and spoke with the person who answered it, who told them he had just purchased it for $20. They returned the phone to the father, and are not suspected of the crime as they did not match the suspect’s description.
July 1
A driver struck a bike lane sign and tree near the intersection of 140th Street and Northeast 8th Street. He attempted to walk away with his guitar, but was stopped and arrested for a DUI.
July 2
Bike officers observed a young man and his friend rolling up a fresh blunt behind an electrical box on the south end of Downtown Park. He was 18 years old and was taken into custody, but later released.
July 3
Several witnesses heard a female screaming from the transient encampment at 16400 NE 8th St. Officers located the victim, who was extremely upset and said the suspect “freaked out and lost his mind” before attempting to strangle her. She had minor injuries. The suspect was arrested.
July 4
For the past two months, a waitress at Goldberg’s Deli in Factoria has allegedly been adding tip amounts onto customers’ credit card receipts. There appears to be at least 60 victims. The suspect confessed, but said she does not know how many receipts she altered or how much money was taken. The teen suspect has since been arrested.
