Bellevue training to track La Niña storms

With a La Niña weather pattern expected to wallop the Northwest with a harsh, snowy winter, the city of Bellevue will help train weather spotters to report storms before they hit.

Ted Buehner, warning coordination meteorologist with the Weather Service’s Seattle office, will train new and veteran weather spotters on how to look for and report significant event-driven weather incidents. Training will include video demonstrations and discussions.

The National Weather Service established SKYWARN to collect reports of severe storms, with nearly 290,000 trained severe weather spotters nationwide.
