Bellevue biographies – Sharpe family

Array

Pictured here are Ruby Sharpe and her twin brothers, Andy and Tom, at their uncle Charlie Gordon’s home. The Sharpe family moved to Bellevue from North Dakota in 1905 when the twins were a year old.

Sam Sharpe, the children’s father, worked at the Hewitt-Lea lumber mill first and then became Bellevue’s mailman. The Sharpes lived at 108th Avenue and NE 12th Street, where they had livestock and a vegetable garden. Andy Sharpe was Bellevue’s longest living citizen when he died in 1998 at the age of 93.
