Bellevue’s Wilcox wins Class 3A state dive title

Bellevue’s Diana Wilcox followed in the footsteps of brothers Zachary, Jonathan and Justin by wining the diving title at the 2008 Class 3A state championship swim/dive meet on Saturday.
Wilcox, a senior whose brothers won eight-consecutive swim titles, won her first title with a total of 418.95 points, almost 40 points more than second-place finisher Madeline Mitchell.
Other Bellevue athletes with top-five finishes included Stephanie Fredrick, who finished fifth in the 50 freestyle, one place ahead of teammate Dasha Ryabashapka.
Erin MacLean of Bellevue finished fifth in the 100 yard butterfly.
Bellevue’s relay team, comprised of Ryabashapka, Fredrick, Melanie Notari and Rachel Schneider finished fifth in both the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
Bellevue finished fourth overall as a team with 186 points. Kennedy won it’s second-straight title with 310 points, while Juanita finished second (225) and Mercer Island finished third (221). Mount Rainier finished in fifth place with 159 points.
In the Class 4A meet, Newport’s Maraea Skeen finished fifth in the dive with a score of 347.15.
The Newport 200 freestyle relay team finished second in 1:40.67.
The team was composed for Emily Chou, Monique Saysana, Jordan Lee and Haley Anderson.
Beamer won that event with a a time of 1:38.94.
Jackson won the 4A team title with 190 points, the first time in school history the program has claimed a state title.
Defending Co-champion Garfield finished in second (157.5), followed by Redmond (148.5), Beamer (143) and Ballard (140 ).
