Anna Rae Andrews Semler

Ann Semler, age 80 passed away peacefully Sunday, April 10, 2016, in Bellevue, Washington.

Ann and her late husband Joseph R. Semler Jr., moved to Medina, WA in 1970.

Ann loved her family. Summers were spent at the family cabin on Lake Chatcolet, Idaho. She patiently taught all of her children to swim, water ski, fish, and to play card games. She entertained family and friends at the lake and at home.

During the late 70’s Ann obtained her real estate license. She successfully sold both commercial and residential real estate for 30 years in Bellevue.

Ann was born December 23, 1935 in Kit Carson County, Colorado. Her parents Leo and Hilma Andrews moved shortly thereafter to settle in Lewiston, Idaho, where Ann attended Lewiston High School and then the University of Idaho. Being a product of the depression era, she instilled in all of her children an enduring work ethic.

Ann enjoyed gardening, antiquing, cooking, watching Mariners games, going to swim meets, cheering on her grandkids at baseball games, and attending musical and dance recitals. She loved family gatherings with her children and grandkids. She was tremendously social with an engaging smile and a joy for conversation.

Animals were important to her, whether at home or on the farm. There was always a dog, whether it was the first family dog Tipsy or her last dog Spencer. On the farm it was lambs, pigs, goats and her horse, Appaloose. She was at home in the city as well as on a farm.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 33-years Joseph R. Semler Jr., her parents Leo and Hilma Andrews, Lewiston, ID, two brothers Tom Andrews and Tim Andrews of Lewiston. Ann is survived by her sisters Bonnie Jean Richards, Sitka, AK, Judy Andrews, Walla Walla, WA, Linda Bauer, Terry Andrews, and brother Michael Andrews, Lewiston, ID.

Ann’s family of seven – Sally Semler (Rob Matchett), Sandy Heaslett (Kevin), Joseph R. Semler III (Barbara), Lynn Semler (John Chelminiak), Stephen Semler (Diane), Suzy Semler, and Mary Jo Buffett (Douglas). She is also survived by 12 loving grandchildren. We are all blessed to have had a mother as loving as ours who taught patience, understanding, and a love that stands the test of time.

A memorial service to commemorate Ann’s life will be held Saturday, May 14th at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Lewiston, Idaho. Rosary will commence at 9:30am., interment to follow service, reception thereafter at St. Stanislaus. An online memorial has been set up at: merchantmemorialgroup.com
