Richard C. (Skip) Sand
After a 5 year valiant battle with cancer, Skip died October 11, 2009; he was 66 years old. Born November 10, 1942 to Denny & Lillian Glad, Skip grew up in Kirkland, WA. He graduated Bellevue Christian School in 1961 and received a Forestry degree from Everett Jr College in 1964. Skip was a 20 year veteran of the Bellevue Fire Department and Medic One program, a photographer, school bus driver and church janitor. Following his diagnosis of leukemia, he became a passionate participant with Team in Training as a marathoner, an honor patient, a fundraiser and cheerleader. His genuine love of people was apparent in all he did and to all who knew him.Skip is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathi; his daughters Shelley (Tom) Connelie and Karen (Bradley) Kamcheff; grandchildren Jared, Thomas & Jennie Connelie and Lexi & Krista Kamcheff; sister Lorrie (Keith) Craig; as well as a large extended family.A celebration of Skip’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 7, at Highland Covenant Church in Bellevue, WA.
