Construction on Puget Sound Energy’s Factoria Service Center, which began last August, is making progress with last week’s completion of the building’s structural steel frame. Work is now being done on steel pan decking and roof decking prior to construction of the building’s walls. The entire building is expected to be complete by this fall.

The two-level, 28,870-sq. ft. energy-efficient addition will replace the office space built in the mid-1950s. The new facility is anticipated to receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. Some of the energy-efficient features will include a green roof, non-toxic furnishings and finishes, and an under-floor air distribution system.
The new building will house about 145 employees and contractors, including service linemen, gas first response teams, meter readers, engineers, meter relay technicians and corrosion control technicians.
