Doris Lucile Alexander

Doris, a 60 year Bellevue resident, passed away at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, WA on October 1, 2014. Doris was the youngest daughter of Owen Griffith Evans and Francis Elizabeth (Lizzie) Evans and was born 8/21/1926 in Adams County Nebraska. Doris graduated from high school and earned her Teachers Certificate. After teaching for a while Doris headed west to San Francisco where she met Tex Alexander. They were married in 1946; and were together almost 58 years prior to his death in 2004. Doris was an outgoing, engaging and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, gracious hostess and wonderful friend who enjoyed family, gardening, cooking, teaching mah jong, playing bridge, shopping and more. Doris is survived by her sister Ruth Swanson; sons, Rick Alexander (wife Terry) from Stanwood, WA and Lon Alexander (wife Jo) from Fairmont WV; grandchildren, Sharla, Shawn, Ryan, Chris, Elizabeth, Loni and Brian. She had 6 great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Oliver, Mackenzie, Delilah, Eli and Jade. There are two additional great-grandchildren expected this year. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Burlington Green Hills Cemetery, followed by an open house at Rick and Terrys’ home in Stanwood. Friends and family are invited to the Alexander home on Wednesday, Oct 8th, from 2:00 – 4:00pm for a celebration of Doris’ life.
