Artist Ginny Conrow takes everything round out of the way she does her porcelain work so as to leave it with a very human hand print.

A potter for 40 years, the Seattle resident has featured her high-fire crystal and glaze, flowing altered porcelain at the ArtsFair for the past 25 years.

“I start with a ball of clay and turn it into something special for somebody by doing shows like the Bellevue ArtsFair,” Conrow said. “It isn’t the same as doing it wholesale in a gallery.”

This year, Conrow is featuring her signature collection for the summer, including miniature three-inch trays that are affordable at $15, up to $500 showpieces.

The artist, who features her work at her Seattle studio, Conrow Porcelain, likes the greater movement and the plasticity of porcelain clay. She finds the increased translucency of its glazes both challenging and enthralling.

Each of her pieces that she creates using a layering glaze technique is in some way hand altered, she said.

She has been well-regarded as an expert in her field, and has taught international workshops in New Zealand, Australia and Thailand.
