Little boy unharmed in unoccupied vehicle accident: At 6:52 p.m. between the 12400 and 12800 block of NE Eighth St., a child escaped harm after being trapped in an unoccupied vehicle that hit two trees and a sedan. The parent of the child was driving a Mercedes Benz GL350 with the child heading eastbound on Northeast Eighth Street when the driver of a Kia sedan ran a red light on 124th Avenue Northeast and Northeast Eighth Street. The Mercedes hit the Kia, causing life-threatening injuries to the back passenger of the Kia. Frantic, the driver of the Mercedes jumped out of the car but didn’t put the car in park, causing it to roll eastbound on Northeast Eighth Street with a little boy secured in a car seat in the back. The driver ran alongside the car for one block before falling and getting injured. The Mercedes continued to drive down the hill and knocked down two trees before hitting a Lincoln sedan and coming to a rest at the entrance of an apartment complex. Both the injured Kia passenger and the driver of the Mercedes were taken to the hospital.
