Through the brainchild of a local dentist within the Bellevue Kiwanis group, he and the collective group will now be sponsoring their 16th semi-annual Casino Night. The event occurs on Sept. 23 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Highland Community Center (14224 Bel-Red Road), and features Texas Hold’em and Blackjack.

This is a primary fundraising event for Bellevue Kiwanis with all proceeds going directly back to the local community in the form of monthly feedings for those in need, high school scholarships, the Highland Games (much like Special Olympics), etc.

The event is comprised of mutual friends and guests, with plenty of parking available. Kiwanis hires a local company that provides the ambiance of a real casino. Cash prizes are provided for the top finishers in each game.

To make the evening more enjoyable, participants are served pizza, donuts, veggies, soft drinks, coffee, wine and beer.

A silent auction accompanies the event with at least 12 auction items up for grabs, all donated from within the Bellevue area.

It’s a great evening of socializing and gaming. And given the success of past years, this year’s event should be great fun for all, while helping to support some important community activities. Advance registration ($65 per person; $75 per person after September 10) entitles one to all the gaming, food and good friends.
