The Bellevue School District announced three school closures due to power outages Tuesday morning.

Bennett Elementary, Tyee Middle School and International School are closed.

The city of Bellevue also reported Southeast 22nd Street is closed from 145th Place Southeast to 148th Avenue Southeast due to a downed tree on power lines.

“Puget Sound Energy reports that crews worked through the night and made substantial progress on restoring power to customers impacted by yesterday’s damaging winds,” the city’s website states. “There are approximately 200 Puget Sound Energy customers in South King County without power.”

Monday’s wind advisory, made by the National Weather Service, has since been lifted and Puget Sound Energy expects power to be restored by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

It was reported Monday evening that 3,250 Bellevue customers were without power. Winds were between 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph in some areas.

The King County Sheriff’s Office reported a 33-year-old woman was killed early Monday evening when a tree fell across the car she was driving. Her passenger was seriously injured, as well as her toddler riding in the back seat.

The King County Sheriff Major Accident Response Resconstruction Detectives will investigate the accident.
